Shannon Willoughby is Executive Director for Strategic Partnerships at The University of Queensland.
Shannon drives the university’s strategic development and engagement with government to support new
partnerships and influence policy. She leads a team which support portfolios including Energy and
Resources, Agrifood, Environment, Advanced Manufacturing and Enabling Technologies, Health and
Biomed, Defence, Space and National Security and Urban Design and Sustainable Infrastructure.
Shannon was a senior executive at Trade Investment Queensland, working across the state and
internationally to support education and research growth. Shannon was also the CEO of Study Gold Coast,
and a former chief reporter at News Limited. She sits on a number of boards and is a graduate of the
Australian Institute of Company Directors.
