Cameron Begley

Through his career, Cameron Begley has been undertaking or leading technology transfer across a range of industries. Over the past twenty years, he has been closely involved with commercialisation pertaining to the biobased economy, spanning bioproducts, health & nutrition, energy and biosecurity outcomes. These outcomes have been delivered through close collaboration with a range of biotechnology and engineering competencies, with a strong orientation towards commercially sustainable, profitable and scalable success.

 

Cameron completed his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering then took technical sales and marketing roles in the chemical industry initially with Dow Chemical and then Akzo Nobel Chemicals with a range of regional roles and responsibilities. On completing an Executive MBA, he then moved into technology transfer and commercialisation with CSIRO, initially linked to Chemical Engineering Sciences, then Commercial General Management role at the then Division of Entomology. There he was involved in business development and commercial activities linked to biosecurity, agriculture and industrial biotechnology, facilitating a range of R&D and commercialisation transactions working across CSIRO, external researcher, commercial and government partnerships in seeking to catalyse Australia’s bioeconomy industries.

 

In 2014 he established Spiegare Pty Ltd, a consultancy focused on technology transfer and commercialisation advisory for companies, R&D investors and publicly funded research institutions. He has a built a team that offers insights and experience to a range of innovation opportunities, largely focussed on the intersection of technology and markets. In 2018, he teamed with Dr Rohan Rainbow and Ms Leecia Angus to form Agtechcentric, a new entity focused on bringing late-stage research and products from around the world to Australian agriculture. In 2022, he co-founded Alpha Lyncis, an advisory team specialising in production scale up for regulated molecules.

 

In 2021 he launched the Tech Transfer Talk podcast, a series of podcasts discussing technology transfer and commercialisation experiences, challenges and insights with a range of guests from around the world.
